WEEK ONE
week one BDM 131
We went over the course outline and what is coming up in the year after that we got start into discussion about music videos we watched some of the greats and some not so great to find out what makes a good music video we then discussed how the process of getting our songs from the music students will work we have a class at ten Tuesday morning with the music students.
We were asked to talk about famous directors of films that started off with music videos.
we had to find a music video that we like as well as the song
and we have to find a song we like but not the music video
The song I like as well as the music video is...
MEAT LOAF - I'D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE
You can tell its Michael bay that shot this due to all the close ups it the music video this video is a good one for an example because Michael is now a big film director that everyone has heard of.
The song that I like but music video I don't is...
STARSHIP - WE BUILT THIS CITY
So me growing up in the 1990's I was brought up on songs from the eighties loving this song I had never watched the music video but when I did i was disappointed as if u have seen u can agree the music video was directed by Bill Bottrell
the reason I dislike this music video is coz the effects don't fit the song right I knows that the effects were probably the best they could do in their time but to me it seems like they were just doing effects coz they could not coz it worked with the song.

Thanks, Josh. Can you describe why you might be disappointed with the Starship video?
ReplyDeletejust up dated that for you
DeleteYes - I completely agree with you that this is a poor video for a cool song. Yes, and also agree re: FX. I also tend to think that the music video is missing a sense of energy and fun that the song has.
